The Yamaha TZ750 is a legendary 747cc two-stroke, inline-four race bike produced from 1974 to 1979 for Formula 750 racing. Known as ‘Godzilla’, it produced between 120-140+ hp, weighed approximately 152 kg dry, and was capable of speeds near 180 mph, dominating the Daytona 200 for nine consecutive years. Another triumph of note was when Joey Dunlop rode to victory in the 1977 Jubilee TT and the 1980 Classic 1000 TT, during the process of which he upped the lap record on the Snaefell Mountain Course to an average speed of 115.22 mph, this is also the fastest recorded lap of the Mountain Course by a Yamaha 750cc two-stroke machine. It was rated by journalist Kevin Cameron as one of the five most influential motorcycle designs, its monoshock suspension, high-strength frame and wide tyres were necessary to handle the high engine output, and became standard for sportbikes.

This bike has come from a local vendor who has a couple of bikes going through the Auction. It has been built from the ground up with all new components to replicate the Agostini bike raced in the Formula 750 Championship. The vendor informs us that the engine and gearbox have had a full overhaul, new carbs and radiator, new old stock forks and swingarm, the last Spondon TZ frame produced prior to the death of Bob Stevenson, new calipers and master cylinder, and new bodywork and exhausts.
