  • Driven from Cornwall to the auction facility
  • Mechanical expenditure in the last few years with invoices on file

First registered in the UK on 14th November 2001, this 2171cc BMW Z3 has been in its current ownership since 2020. Finished in Blue paintwork with a Black leather w/cloth interior, it has been optioned with leather heated electric seats and power steering.

This Z3 has been described by the vendor as presenting in very good to good overall condition with the paintwork generally well-kept, though there are a couple of scratches and stone chips to the bonnet, as well as a small scrape to the rear left corner. Inside, the interior is also described as very good, with Black leather with cloth seats, along with seats and carpets all remaining in pleasing order. The car was driven to the auction venue in Hampshire from Cornwall.

As far as history goes, the service book is present and contains 13 stamped entries, four of which are from main dealers. The first entry relates to its pre-delivery inspection in 2001, followed by an oil service in 2002 at 7,254 miles and an Inspection I later that year at 16,770 miles. Further entries include an oil service in 2003 at 30,751 miles and an Inspection II in 2004 at 43,094 miles. An oil service combined with an Inspection II was carried out in 2006 at 52,525 miles, followed by an oil service in 2011 at 65,137 miles and a further oil service with Inspection I at 66,110 miles.

The history then records an oil service in 2015 at 66,807 miles and another in 2018 at 69,354 miles, before an oil service with Inspection 2 in 2019 at 74,171 miles. More recent entries include an oil service in 2022, for which no mileage is recorded, an oil service with Inspection 2 in 2024 at 94,499 miles, and finally an oil service with Inspection 1 in 2025 at approximately 100,000 miles.
Maintenance work carried out includes a replacement brake master cylinder in March 2026, with an invoice held in the history folder. The spark plugs were renewed in September 2025, followed by the fitting of a replacement alternator in May 2025, both supported by invoices.

In April 2024, the car benefited from new pads, discs and callipers, while earlier work in May 2023 included the replacement of the track rods. Further attention was given in April 2023 to the suspension and steering, including the suspension arms. Looking further back, a new battery was fitted in August 2020, and in May 2020 the coolant pump and drive belt kit were both fitted. All of this work is documented with invoices included in the history folder.

We are grateful to the owner for the following description: Most times (not always) there is a squeal from the engine when it first starts up but it stops if you let tick over for a few minutes (it will keep on squealing if you just drive off). On a journey the squeal does not return even when you stop for fuel or coffee break. When I got the car, I knew that the coolant pump was noisy and I replaced it straight away – at the same time I replaced the drive belt and tensioner. I don’t know if the squeal was there before I did this work – I didn’t hear it when I road tested the vehicle and took it home. I have been loath to change the belt and tensioner again and have been off doing anything about it except to change the alternator which was quite easy to do. It hasn’t got any worse over the last 6 years /c.20k miles. I was hoping it would get so that I could discover for certain what is causing it.

The accompanying paperwork includes a collection of invoices covering maintenance carried out during the car’s life, along with an RAC Vehicle History Check. Also present is an MOT history printout covering the period from 2006 through to 2026, in addition to the current MOT certificate.

Further items within the history file comprise a selection of magazines, the original handbook, and a workshop manual. The car is also supplied with spanners intended for the viscous fan, as well as its original radio.
