Introduced in 1953, Ford's second-generation F-Series marked a significant leap forward in pickup truck design, replacing the long-running F-1 with the new F-100 designation. With its rounded styling, wider cab and improved road manners, it quickly became one of America's most recognisable pickups and today remains one of the most popular foundations for custom hot rod and performance builds.
This striking 1954 example has been transformed into a purposeful custom pickup, blending classic 1950s styling with a host of performance-inspired upgrades. Finished in white, the truck sits with an aggressive lowered stance, widened rear arches and deep-dish rear wheels, giving it the unmistakable appearance of a period street machine.
The interior continues the theme, featuring a bespoke aluminium dashboard fitted with a comprehensive array of Auto Meter instrumentation, including a large column-mounted tachometer with shift light, auxiliary gauges monitoring engine functions, aircraft-style toggle switches and additional performance controls. Bucket seats, a floor-mounted manual gear lever and competition-inspired switchgear reinforce the truck's purposeful character.
Under the bonnet sits a 5.8 Ford V8 engine coupled to a manual gearbox. The engine bay features an aluminium radiator with electric cooling fan, performance ignition components, braided fuel and electrical plumbing and an MSD electronic ignition system. The vendor advises the pickup is not currently running, however following inspection they believe the fault lies with the electronic ignition system rather than any internal engine issue.
The truck was imported into the UK in 2016 and has remained with one UK owner since. Sadly now offered from a deceased estate, it presents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiast to recommission a distinctive American custom pickup with much of the hard work already completed.
