The GT3 is a product of Porsche Motorsport and represents the high-performance version of the Porsche 911, developed primarily for competition and named after the FIA GT3 class for which it was designed. The iconic 'RS' designation is reserved only for the most focused, lightweight and extreme road-going Porsches, a lineage that began with the legendary 1973 911 Carrera RS.

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2006, Porsche unveiled the new 997-generation GT3 alongside the lighter, more focused GT3 RS (commonly referred to as the 997.1 GT3 RS). The GT3 models were substantially redesigned and significantly more powerful with motivation provided by the motorsport-derived 3.6-litre M97/76 engine – the final evolution of the legendary Mezger flat-six, whose architecture can be traced directly back to Porsche's GT1 racing programme.

For the 997.1 GT3, Porsche engineers undertook a meticulous programme of reducing internal masses. The short-stroke, dry-sump boxer six now revved to an exhilarating 8,400rpm – 200rpm higher than before – and, aided by revised engine cover air scoops, a larger intake throttle body and an increased compression ratio of 12.0:1, produced an impressive 415bhp at 7,600rpm. This equated to an exceptional specific output of 114bhp per litre, placing it close to the power output of the twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre engine fitted to the 996 Turbo.

Further developments included VarioCam variable intake timing, improving both efficiency and torque delivery, while the exhaust system was closely related to that of the GT3 Cup race car. The GT3 RS also featured Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), traction control, the G97/90 six-speed manual gearbox, a mechanical limited-slip differential with asymmetric locking characteristics, a lightweight single-mass flywheel and an uprated clutch. The body was 44mm wider at the rear – inherited from the Carrera 4 shell – allowing for a wider rear track and improved stability. Completing the package were an adjustable carbon fibre rear wing, lightweight rear engine lid and lightweight polycarbonate rear window.

Offered here is a desirable C16 UK-supplied first-generation example showing just 9,201 miles at the time of cataloguing. Presented in iconic RS Orange with contrasting black graphics, and benefitting from full PPF from new, this exceptional GT3 RS is a C16 car registered new in March 2007 to Porsche Belfast and purchased in July 2007 by the current owner who has owned it ever since (the accompanying V5C shows zero former keepers), representing an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire an unspoilt, ultra-low mileage example.

The car is further enhanced by an impressive factory specification, including the desirable Bi-Xenon Lighting System, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sport Chrono Package Plus, PCM including SatNav (no telephone), rear section of centre console and roll cage in exterior colour, together with a host of additional factory options befitting Porsche's flagship RS model.

Our vendor is generously including a brand new, genuine Porsche front spoiler, lower spoiler extension, the original drivers harness in red (not fitted) and the original fire extinguisher (not fitted). It is fitted with the correct Porsche ‘NO’ rated Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres with only around 400 miles from new and they are in good condition, and the car will have a fresh MOT prior to the sale. The impressive full Porsche dealer history is listed below.

With values of analogue Porsche GT models continuing to strengthen, first-generation 997 GT3 RSs have become increasingly sought after, particularly low-mileage, UK-supplied examples with single registered keepers from new. The opportunity to acquire a C16 GT3 RS of this quality, offered publicly for the first time since delivery, is exceptionally rare.
