People who bought a BMW M6 V10 from new, watched in horror as it lost about £1,000 per day in depreciation. But their unfortunate loss could be your happy good fortune.

Background
The E63/E64 versions (the E64 is the convertible) of the 6-series ended a 16-year hiatus in M6 production – and what a car with which to break the fallow years. 

With a humongous V10 engine under the bonnet, the ‘P500’ iteration was only a whisper and a wish away from seeing the full double-ton on the car’s HUD.

And you’d see those magic numbers in complete luxury too, because the M6 is loaded with electronic kit and more hide than you’d find at a Texan rodeo.

This is properly brutal, visceral grunt for people who like their personal ballistic missiles to be luxurious and comfortable. 

But then, the M6 was always more about crushing continents in opulent style than clipping apexes and shaving tenths of a second.

Production ended in 2010 at which point 9,087 coupés and 5,065 convertibles had been built.

Overview
The car was in the possession of its last owner for around 10 years and has been used very sparingly during that time, a fact reflected in the very low indicated mileage (one we have no reason to doubt) of 57,988 miles.

It is brought to us today by a trade seller.

We have driven the car and can attest to the fact that the absolute beast under the bonnet appears to have lost little of its potency. 

Unsurprisingly, the 5.0-litre, 500bhp, V10 power unit makes the car go like a nervous cheetah at a fireworks display, with the inestimable bonus of a tonal range that runs from Tom Waits, through Pavarotti, to Robert Plant.

The car drives exactly as it should and the roof goes up and down as instructed.
