The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is widely regarded as one of the greatest homologation specials ever produced. Developed from the original Delta HF 4WD launched in 1986, the Integrale evolved rapidly as Lancia continued to refine the car in pursuit of World Rally Championship success. Wider wheel arches, revised suspension, permanent four-wheel drive and a turbocharged twin-cam engine combined to produce a road car that closely mirrored its competition counterpart. The introduction of the 16-valve model in 1989 brought a redesigned cylinder head, increased power to around 200bhp and improved engine flexibility, cementing the Integrale's reputation as one of the most capable performance cars of its era.
The results in international rallying speak for themselves. Between 1987 and 1992 the Delta secured an unprecedented six consecutive World Rally Championship Manufacturers' titles, a record that still stands today. Driven by some of the sport's greatest names including Juha Kankkunen, Miki Biasion and Didier Auriol, the Integrale became synonymous with the golden era of Group A rallying. More than three decades later it remains one of the most celebrated driver's cars of the period, with well-preserved examples increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
This fine example was manufactured in 1991 and is one of the final 16-valve cars produced before the introduction of the Evo I. It is presented in stunning Grigio Metallic with the desirable perforated black leather interior, arguably one of the model's most attractive colour combinations. 35 years after leaving the factory it now shows just 43,164km (26,820 miles) and presents in excellent, highly original condition. Originally supplied to the Japanese market, it is understood to have been imported and correctly registered in the UK by Walkers Garage in 2014.
Our vendor, who rallied an Integrale in period and still owns the competition car today, discovered this example at a friend's workshop and immediately recognised how well preserved it was. It became the perfect road-going companion to his rally car, forming part of his private Collection, but is now being offered for sale as it sees little use and deserves to be enjoyed by another Lancia enthusiast.
We are informed it has been carefully maintained throughout its life and is accompanied by a history file containing its original book pack, a folder of invoices, previous MOT Certificates, and period sales brochures together with the original jack and tool kit.
In summary, this represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the defining homologation specials of the Group A era. With low recorded mileage, attractive specification and careful ownership, it offers an increasingly scarce opportunity to own one of the most celebrated performance cars of the late 1980s and early 1990s, ready to be enjoyed on the road or admired as part of a serious collection.
