The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 marked the final evolution of one of the most celebrated sports car lines ever produced. Introduced in 1971, it was distinguished by its longer wheelbase, widened track and the installation of Jaguar’s 5.3-litre V12 engine, transforming the character of the E-Type into a more refined and effortless grand tourer while retaining the unmistakable silhouette that had defined the model since its 1961 debut. With power steering and automatic transmission available, the Series 3 represented the most usable and luxurious expression of the E-Type concept.

This example was ordered in 1971 through Henlys of London and confirmed by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust as being built for personal export delivery to the USA. In previous decades, new car owners would often take delivery direct from the factory and the original owner of ADU 935K did exactly that, picking up the car at Jaguar’s Browns Lane factory in early 1972 before touring around Europe. Finished in Old English White with a Russet Red leather interior, the car was delivered in left-hand drive specification and retained its original colour combination throughout its life. Following its European tour, the car was shipped to the USA aboard the SS France in May 1972, supported by surviving shipping documentation.

After residing in New York for a period, the Jaguar was sold in October 1981 by the estate of Robert Coller to the Ace Tire Company of Ridgefield, Connecticut, displaying just 5,900 miles at the time. Ace Tires would repaint the car in the 1980s and go on to retain it for many years before being repatriated to the UK in 2017, at which point the odometer displayed approximately 13,000 miles. Its originality was supported by a period insurance appraisal describing it as a 'show grade' example prior to export. While the USA history is not meticulous enough to warrant the mileage, the condition and appraisals would believe it to be true.

Following its return to the UK, the E-Type was inspected by the E-Type Club and subsequently worked upon by marque specialists E-Type UK, with further extensive recommissioning carried out by JLC Ltd over a two-year period. This work, totalling over £35,000, focused on preserving as much original material as possible while ensuring the car was mechanically and structurally fully prepared for continued use. Anything that could be retained was conserved, with only necessary items replaced.

The 5.3-litre V12 engine presents strong oil pressure and smooth delivery, paired with a refined drivetrain that reflects both its low mileage and recent mechanical attention. The Series 3’s factory option power steering is fitted, improving usability at lower speeds, while the overall driving experience remains consistent with the grand touring intent of the final E-Type generation.

Presented in its original colour scheme of Old English White over Russet Red leather, the interior retains a light patina consistent with careful long-term use in a dry climate. Trim, instrumentation and switchgear remain in excellent order, while chrome brightwork and panel fit present well throughout.

A rare opportunity to acquire a highly original, low mileage Series 3 E-Type with a well-documented transatlantic history. ADU 935K represents a thoughtfully preserved and well cared for example of the final V12 E-Type generation that's eminently usable on a regular basis and would be equally at home on the concours lawn.
