Few luxury SUVs have achieved the enduring reputation of the L322 Range Rover. Introduced in 2002, it redefined the luxury 4x4 market by successfully combining serious off-road capability with levels of refinement and craftsmanship previously reserved for executive saloons. Over the following decade, the L322 steadily evolved through a series of updates and facelifts, culminating in the final facelift models which paired the acclaimed 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 with a beautifully appointed interior, cementing the L322's status as one of the finest Range Rovers ever produced.
By 2012, production of the L322 was drawing to a close, with the model benefiting from a decade of continual development. The flagship Autobiography specification offered the very best of the range, combining swathes of leather upholstery, heated and cooled electrically adjustable seating front and rear, Harman/Kardon audio, rear entertainment, satellite navigation, three zone climate control and Land Rover's renowned Terrain Response system. Effortless performance came courtesy of the supercharged 5.0-litre V8, producing over 500bhp and mated to a smooth ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox, providing borderline alarming pace whilst retaining the refinement expected of a flagship Range Rover.
This example is particularly exceptional. It benefits from a highly specialised conversion by the International Armoring Corporation to Euro B7 (ballistic protection) specification. Designed to withstand high powered rifle fire, the conversion incorporates multi-layer bullet resistant glazing to all glass areas together with Armormax ballistic composite protection, ballistic steel reinforcement, strengthened pillars and heavy duty door hinges, all engineered to preserve the Range Rover's original appearance as closely as possible. The result is a discreet yet exceptionally capable security vehicle offering one of the highest recognised levels of civilian ballistic protection.
Finished in Sumatra Black over a black leather interior with brushed aluminium and Piano Black trim, the car presents with the understated elegance that has become synonymous with the L322. It has covered just 4,800 miles from new and is accompanied by a reassuringly comprehensive history file including its owner's wallet, stamped service record, maintenance invoices, MOT certificates, two keys and the original International Armoring documentation. Servicing has been carried out by JLC - Herne Hill with stamps at 2,136, 2,643, 3,231, 4320, 4,347 and 4,371 miles, reflecting the meticulous care afforded to the vehicle from new.
Whether acquired for its unique security credentials, exceptionally low mileage or as one of the most unusual and highly specified examples of the revered L322, this remarkable Range Rover represents a rare opportunity to own what is surely one of the finest surviving examples of Land Rover's iconic luxury SUV, and certainly one of the lowest mileage L322s in the world, this truly must be the ultimate L322.
