Few competition Porsches have achieved the iconic status of the Vaillant-sponsored Kremer Racing 911 RSRs. Instantly recognisable in their distinctive green and white livery, these formidable endurance racers became synonymous with the golden era of GT competition, with Bob Wollek proving one of the model's most accomplished exponents during the 1974 and 1975 seasons. Their combination of aggressive styling, unmistakable flat-six soundtrack and remarkable success has since made them among the most celebrated competition 911s ever built.
Offered here is a superbly executed recreation of the famous Number 5 car, based on a 1977 Porsche 911 and created with an obvious appreciation for both the engineering and visual authenticity of the original. More than simply a cosmetic tribute, this is a thoughtfully developed driver's car that successfully captures the character and presence of the legendary Kremer machine.
For the past seven years, the car has resided in the hands of an experienced Porsche technician at the highly respected specialists, Autofarm, a level of ownership that is immediately evident throughout. Presented in Jade Green (Hellgrun) with the famous Vaillant livery professionally painted and completed by period decals, resulting in an exceptional finish that enhances both its authenticity and visual impact. Sitting on period-correct Michelin TB5 tyres, its stance is every bit as purposeful as the competition cars that inspired it, and it has become a familiar and well-regarded sight within Porsche enthusiast circles.
Mechanically, the specification has been selected to provide the engaging, analogue driving experience expected of an air-cooled 911. Power comes from a responsive 3.6-litre twin-spark flat-six, complemented by a lightened flywheel and driving through the desirable Type 915 five-speed manual gearbox. The combination delivers crisp throttle response, abundant performance and the wonderfully mechanical character that has made these later air-cooled engines such a popular choice. A Borla exhaust further enhances the experience, producing the unmistakable flat-six soundtrack for which Porsche competition cars are renowned.
The chassis has received similarly careful attention. An endurance-style fuel tank reflects the car's motorsport inspiration, whilst split twin brake master cylinders allow adjustable front-to-rear brake bias. Uprated Porsche 930 Turbo brake calipers provide reassuring stopping power, creating a package equally capable of fast road driving, touring or occasional track day use.
Inside, the cabin faithfully echoes the purposeful simplicity of the original RSR. A full roll cage provides the centrepiece, accompanied by a pair of Cobra Suzuka Pro competition seats complete with harnesses. The dashboard and door cards have been retrimmed in Alcantara, the latter subtly embossed with RSR logos, whilst a genuine Porsche quick-release Momo steering wheel completes an interior that feels every inch the period competition car.
We understand that the Porsche has covered only approximately 2,000 miles since completion of the build, helping to explain the exceptional condition in which it presents today. Every element appears to have been carefully considered, resulting in a remarkably cohesive recreation that balances visual authenticity with genuine usability.
