- The Dax Tojeiro (now known as the Dax 427) is one of the most prominent, respected, and enduring AC Cobra replica sports cars in the automotive industry. Produced by the British manufacturer, Dax Cars, (originally DJ Sportscars), it earned its legendary name from a direct collaboration with iconic automotive designer John Tojeiro whose initial design (LOY 500) was the genesis of the whole Cobra story
- Joining Dax in 1985, Tojeiro continued to develop the Cobra replicas over the years and importantly patented a unique De Dion rear suspension with camber compensation and an anti-roll system offering comfortable predictable handling compared to its competitors
- This impressive example is a Dax Tojeiro originally built circa 1989 and powered by a c1970 5.3-litre Jaguar V12 which explains its 1970 Registration Number
- We understand it was fully rebuilt in April 2008 as a Mk IV with motivation now provided by a 5.7-litre Chevrolet 'small block' V8 featuring Edelbrock chrome rocker covers, an alloy high-flow water pump, billet alloy crank pulley, chrome 65-amp alternator, billet alternator bracket and a high-torque starter motor
- Transmission is courtesy of a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox mated to a Jaguar differential, providing a proven and desirable drivetrain combination
- In current ownership for five years with four former registered keepers the car was repainted approximately two years ago and, we understand, fitted with new carpets at the same time
- Accompanied by a detailed history file including a photographic CD documenting the car's build from April 2008, together with supporting paperwork and an MOT history dating back to July 2008
