The R129-generation SL was developed from a shortened version of the W124 platform and introduced several advanced features for its era, including Mercedes-Benz's innovative multi-link rear suspension. A 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL320, ‘R9 ALB’ was first registered in the UK on 8th August 1998 and is finished in Smoke Silver with a Sand Beige leather interior that complement each other very handsomely.
The vendor describes the SL as presenting well overall and in ‘good’ condition. Whilst there are six former keepers, the current owner has enjoyed long-term custodianship for the last 15 years and four months. With a specification which includes a power-operated soft top, a removable hardtop, climate control, electric mirrors, electric seats and a radio/CD player with the engine allied to a 5-speed automatic transmission, the SL displays some 77,839 miles.
With an MOT valid until May 2027, the SL320 is supplied with its original book pack and service book. The service record contains 11 stamped entries, eight of which are from Mercedes-Benz main dealers. These services were carried out in October 1999 at 11,346 miles, June 2002 at 38,394 miles, August 2003 at 51,494 miles, September 2005 at 59,843 miles, October 2007 at 63,105 miles, October 2009 at 67,413 miles, March 2012 at 70,737 miles and February 2014 at 74,816 miles. A further three stamps from W.T.W Truck Hire Ltd are present in the service book, although they are not accompanied by dates or mileage records.
More recently, in 2024, the car benefited from the replacement of the offside front window regulator and motor, together with new rubber ball-joint boots.
The vendor advises that the Mercedes runs and drives well, and it was driven to our Marchwood venue.
