Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta is proud to present this extensively built 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Five-Window Restomod, a three-year custom project combining the unmistakable shape of Chevrolet's Advance-Design pickup with modern LS power, overdrive performance, updated suspension, air conditioning, power accessories, and a beautifully coordinated interior.
The body was removed from the chassis during the build, allowing the truck to be refinished from the ground up. Its deep green exterior was prepared through an intensive paint process that included blocking and sanding the body four times before three coats of color were applied. Two stages of clear were then laid over the finish, producing the deep gloss and mirror-like reflections visible throughout the truck.
The classic five-window cab, rounded fenders, running boards, split windshield, chrome grille, Chevrolet hood emblem, and embossed tailgate preserve the character that makes these trucks so desirable. According to the supplied information, every exterior component was either replaced with new hardware or rechromed during the build. The chrome grille, bumpers, handles, mirrors, trim, and lighting provide an excellent contrast against the dark green paint.
Power comes from an LS-series V8 paired with a 4L60 automatic overdrive transmission. This combination provides modern starting, smooth power delivery, and relaxed highway cruising while retaining the classic appearance of the 1951 body. The engine compartment is fully painted and detailed, with the engine cover and accessory components finished in a custom bronze color that coordinates with the interior.
Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator and electric fans. The builder reports that the truck can remain in traffic for extended periods with the air conditioning operating without running hot. Power steering and power brakes make the Chevrolet considerably easier to operate than a stock 1951 pickup, while the overdrive transmission helps provide comfortable highway performance. The truck is described as tracking confidently at speed and requiring very little steering effort.
The chassis was painted and smoothed in a contrasting retro gray finish rather than coated with basic aerosol paint. The underside photographs show a cleanly presented frame, independent front suspension, automatic transmission, dual exhaust, rear leaf-spring suspension, and a modern driveshaft arrangement.
The stance is completed by polished 20-inch American Racing Salt Flat wheels wrapped in modern radial tires. Their machined finish works well with the truck's chrome exterior trim while maintaining a clean, traditional hot-rod appearance.
Inside, the cab has been completely redesigned in saddle-brown leather. The custom bench seat features distressed-style leather, sculpted bolsters, and diamond-quilted inserts. Matching leather door panels carry the same stitching pattern, while the seat incorporates dual stainless-steel cupholders for added convenience.
Vintage VHX instrumentation places modern electronic gauges into the redesigned dashboard, providing a clear speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, temperature, oil-pressure, and voltage readouts. A custom steering wheel, tilt column, power-window switches, Vintage Air controls, and a Bluetooth-equipped JVC stereo add modern usability without taking away from the truck's vintage character.
A new Painless wiring harness was installed from front to rear, providing a modern electrical foundation for the upgraded drivetrain, gauges, climate controls, lighting, stereo, and power accessories.
The bed is another standout feature. Finished wood planks are separated by polished metal strips and secured with bright hardware, creating a show-ready presentation that complements the green body and polished wheels. The painted inner bedsides, wheel tubs, chains, and embossed Chevrolet tailgate continue the same level of detail found throughout the rest of the build.
This 1951 Chevrolet 3100 is far more than a cosmetic restoration. It is a complete body-off restomod featuring LS power, an overdrive transmission, power steering, power brakes, modern wiring, effective cooling, Vintage Air, digital instrumentation, custom leather upholstery, polished wheels, and a fully finished wood bed.
With its five-window cab, deep mirror-finish paint, saddle-leather interior, detailed chassis, and proven road manners, this Green Machine offers the classic presence of an early Chevrolet pickup with the comfort and drivability expected from a modern custom build.
