• Introduced in 1967, the MG C was a 2,912cc, straight-six version of the MG B. In twin SU carburettor form the engine produced a lusty 145bhp at 5,250rpm and when fed through an overdrive gearbox or a three-speed automatic the car was capable of 120mph and 0-60 in just under ten seconds
• The bodyshell needed considerable revision from its smaller-engined sister, particularly around the engine bay and to the floor pan, but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a 'teardrop' for carburettor clearance
• It had different brakes from the MG B, 15-inch wheels, a lower geared rack and pinion, and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers. Production ran for barely two years and totalled 8,999 cars, making the C one of the rarest MGs of the era
• The example offered here dates from 05/03/1968 and is particularly rare as it is one of only 92 UK cars fitted with an automatic gearbox. Finished in Tartan Red over a black leather interior, it was optioned with wire wheels, a heater and Tonneau cover and was dispatched on 01/08/1968 to University Motors, London and onwards to its first owner
