This example is a faithful tribute to that inspiring vehicle by leading marque specialist Buggy Builders, famed for their custom buggy builds. Every detail, down to the sponsorship stickers, is a direct replication of the original, and the only major difference is that the car offered here is right hand drive. The paintwork is Marigold metallic flake, and is especially distinctive, even for the already distinctive Manx buggy! The suspension features Bilstein shock absorbers, while its orange steel smoothie wheels are wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar tyres - a massive footprint for climbing dunes and gripping rocks. The PRP suspension seats and five-point race harnesses are essential survival gear, and the six-point roll cage with full engine protection and the front nudge bar with racing spotlights are not for show either. At its heart beats a purpose-built 1776cc twin-port engine, a significant step up from the stock Volkswagen example. This provides the extra torque and power needed to climb dunes and power through silt beds. It's fed by reliable Weber 34 ICT carburettors, chosen for their durability and steady performance in the harsh, variable conditions of the Mexican desert.
This 'Goldi2' tribute is a monument to a monumental achievement. It honours Bruce Meyers' timeless, brilliant design by taking it to the ultimate limit. Goldi2 is a testament to the belief that with the right preparation and spirit, even the humble beach buggy can become a king of the desert. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
