The Honda CR250R Elsinore (popularly known as the ‘Red Rocket’) represents a historic milestone in motocross history, serving as the machine that vaulted Honda back to the peak of off-road racing. After dominating with the original 1973 Elsinore, Honda fell behind rivals and chose to skip the 1977 250cc production year to develop this ground-up, factory-works replica. It was notably the first production Honda motocross bike to bear the performance ‘R’ designation.
The vendor advises the engine was overhauled with all new parts, the cylinder re-nickelled, and it has been fitted with new piston bearings, new gearbox and clutch. It has since only been run for 5 minutes testing from a bottle. This is an outstanding example of this highly collectable bike. Wow!
