  • Highly desirable RD400 model
  • Good running order
  • Previously restored, with circa £7,000 spent

First registered in the UK in 1977, this Yamaha RD400 is a highly sought-after example of one of the era’s most iconic performance motorcycles. Showing 35,408 miles, the bike is finished in black and presents very well overall.

The RD400 has long been regarded as one of Yamaha’s defining two-stroke motorcycles, combining a lightweight chassis with the distinctive character and performance that made the RD range so popular. This example is described as being in good running order.

The bike has undergone a previous restoration, having originally been blue before being refinished in its current black. The vendor advises that the previous owner spent approximately £7,000 on the motorcycle during their ownership, demonstrating the level of investment made in bringing the bike to its current condition.

Cosmetically, the paintwork is very good, with only a small mark noted on one of the clusters. The chrome work is also very good, although there is an imperfection to the front section of chrome.

The motorcycle has had 7 former keepers and is now both MOT and tax exempt. It is accompanied by the current V5, although unfortunately there is no further paperwork with the bike. Please Note: HPI check records the motorcycle as having previously been subject to a category C insurance loss.

A highly collectible two-stroke, this RD400 offers the opportunity to acquire an iconic Yamaha with an interesting history and evidence of significant previous investment.
