  • The one to have
  • Fantastic history
  • Correct factory specification
  • Amazing condition

We love a BMW 6 Series at Manor Park and we really love this one, which has a great history. It was supplied new by Derek Woodman BMW of Blackpool on 21/6/1988 to its first owner and then on 22/8/1988 it was sold to its second owner. There is a story, nothing sinister, but the first owner had to sell the M3 very quickly, we guess due to a business problem. This is documented in the history in the form of correspondence between both parties and an invoice as proof and date of the transaction.

The 635 is finished in diamond black with silver grey leather and comes with some very nice factory options such as de-chroming, grad tint windscreen, sports seats, front heated seats, radio preparation and M-Tech steering wheel, as well as all the other factory standard options a BMW of this level had back in the 1980s. We have the original dealer invoice from the day, and it tells us that this beast cost a massive £39,193 - the equivalent of £112,000+ in today’s money! You can see that this was the top of the range BMW, and if you had one you had arrived.

This E24 gets even more impressive when you look at its condition, as it looks amazing in every way. We suspect that it has enjoyed a recommissioning at some point in its life but it has been done very well and has stayed true to the original factory specification. Even down to the correct wheels and Michelin tyres, which often get changed due to the cost of the upkeep and the tyres, but this has stayed true to its specification. This is an important thing when considering a purchase of such an example. It has a service book with 39 entries in it (yes, 39!); a huge number and gives you an indication of how cherished it has been. There are a selection of invoices and receipts, as well as some older MOTs and tax discs. It goes on with its full BMW book pack with all the relevant manuals and information, the aforementioned paperwork from when it changed hands when it was a month old, and even the spare keys. Pretty much all you need with a classic! Even the cherished plate of ‘7557 JW’ is included, as it was on from day one, so it would be a shame to split them up. Even the plate has a good value attached to it.

This is a very nice example, and with BMW now getting involved with their version of ‘Classico’, the brand can only benefit and we will find ourselves with some very rare and desirable BMWs on the market. The smart move would be to buy one now before it’s too late, don’t let it be said we didn’t tell you!
