On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. The Porsche 911/996 Carrera 4S is fast becoming one of the most desirable 996 models, given its wide turbo body looks and remaining very affordable in the modern classic world. It offers a thrilling driving experience and is powered by 3.6 litre flat-six engine, producing a highly respectable 316bhp. This engine was paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed Tiptronic automatic. The car was also fitted with an all-wheel drive system, giving it excellent traction and handling in any conditions. The 996 Carrera 4S has a top speed of 174mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in its class.

This marvellous metallic black example has been owned by our vendor since 2019. Since then, he's cared for it meticulously, keeping it well maintained and garage stored throughout his ownership. The car's original owner specified it with the very rare full leather interior package, which today presents well and gives the 996 a grand-touring edge that standard models don't quite achieve. Once combined with the Tiptronic gearbox, what you have is a very well-rounded sportscar indeed. To ensure this remains so, our vendor has recently replaced the IMS and RMS, with both having been repaired in the recent past as well. The 996-generation 911 is becoming increasingly popular, and the Carrera 4S allows the perfect balance between a truly usable daily driver - with seats and luggage space for four - and is a very satisfying sportscar indeed.
