  • Upgraded from the original 2.5-litre engine to a 3.0-litre S2 engine
  • Guards Red with black leather interior
  • 17-inch alloy wheels and sunroof

Finished in Guards Red with a black leather interior, this 1986 Porsche 944 has been in the ownership of its current keeper for 13 years and 7 months, during which time significant work and upgrades have been carried out.

Originally fitted with the 2.5-litre engine, the car has been upgraded to a 3.0-litre S2 engine from a 1991 Porsche 944, paired with a manual transmission. It also features 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, leather interior, alarm system with remote unlocking and a Pioneer radio.

Considerable mechanical and structural work has been undertaken, with works reportedly carried out by JMG Porsche. In 2022, the inner and outer sills were repaired and the underside sealed, with extensive photographs documenting the work. The brake calipers were also refurbished and powder coated, with new discs and pads fitted. Receipts are included for further maintenance, including cam belt and balance shaft belt replacement.

The car received a full respray in 2014, although the paintwork has since developed some cracking, lifted lacquer and areas of surface rust. The wheels would benefit from refurbishment, while the dashboard has some age-related cracking and the headlining requires attention. The rev counter reads approximately 1,000rpm out, while the odometer is currently not recording mileage, which the vendor believes may require a replacement gear within the instrument cluster.

The front seats have been refurbished and the car is supplied with its original spoiler, steering wheel and side skirts, along with boxes of spare parts. The Porsche badge came off the car during its journey to the auction, so a replacement badge will need to be purchased and fitted.

The vendor describes the car as a fair example, and it was driven approximately 50 miles to the auction. With its Guards Red finish, black leather interior and upgraded 3.0-litre S2 engine, this Porsche 944 presents an interesting opportunity for a marque enthusiast, with a substantial amount of work already completed and scope for further cosmetic improvement.
