A charming example of Jensen’s British sports car offering, this 1975 Jensen Healey MK2 Convertible is presented in red with a black leather interior and has covered a displayed 58,963 miles. Built in 1974 and first registered in the UK in July 1975, it is now registered as a historic vehicle and benefits from the associated MOT exemption.
Powered by a 2-litre engine and fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, this Jensen Healey comes complete with its soft top and is described as driving nicely. However, the gearbox currently pops out of fourth gear, so this will require investigation by its new owner.
The current owner acquired the car in March 2021, with four previous owners recorded. Considerable time and money have been invested in the car over the past couple of years, with work including new floor welding and sills, a new clutch, battery and starter motor, sonic cleaning and rebuilding of the Dellorto carburettors, a cleaned petrol tank with new fuel sensor, rear differential seals, an oil cooler, front crank oil seal and radiator hoses.
Further work includes new brake pipes and hoses, front brake pads, seat belts, tyres, timing belt, speedo cable and a stainless-steel exhaust. The seats have received new covers, the windscreen has been replaced and the rev counter repaired.
Finished in red, the paintwork does have some imperfections and would benefit from further cosmetic attention, including an area to the front of the bonnet. The car was originally blue. Supplied with a Jensen Healey Mark 1 & 2 workshop manual CD, MOT certificates and invoices relating to previous work, this is an appealing opportunity to acquire a usable example of Jensen’s distinctive open-top sports car.
