Manufactured on 26th April 1961, this Austin Seven DeLuxe variant of the Mini, launched some 2 years earlier in 1959, was delivered new to Atkey’s Ltd of Nottingham and was first registered on 12th May 1961. Said to retain its original bodyshell, it is finished in Speedwell Blue with a Grey and Blue interior, the Seven also possesses the optional heater. Currently presented with accessories in-keeping with a period RAC School of Motoring vehicle, with details even down to dual-controls (decommissioned), something easily removable. On file are some notes suggesting ownership of the Seven withing the East Midlands in the 1990s, with owners in Derby, Goodby, Leicestershire and Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire.
Whilst the original engine was replaced many years ago with a 1973-dated 850cc unit, the Mini still possesses many of its original features and benefits from a remarkable 28 years of previous ownership with one of the previous owners. A very good history of invoices accompanies the Seven, including invoices from Newton Commercial, Mini Sport Ltd, Mini Spares and other suppliers totalling more than £6,500 for work carried out since 2025, together with earlier receipts.
Also included are a BMIHT certificate, restoration photographs, old MOT certificates, a 1996 ‘used car’ bill of sale and a photocopy of an old blue V5 dating from 1983, and of course, the current V5C. It is noted that the registration number is non-transferable. Further accompanying items include an Austin Seven Driver’s Handbook and a period Highway Code booklet, adding to the period appeal and provenance.
