- The Norton 'featherbed' frame first appeared in the early 1960s and were developed initially for use on Manx Nortons to great success on race tracks around the world
- Quickly introduced by the factory onto production Norton models, including Internationals and Dominators.
- Wasn't long before people started using the frame for home-built specials including Tritons, Norvins and numerous others
- This Sprint Special is one of the four bikes built in period by Francis Williams, previous bikes included the 'Saltdean Special' and 'Thor'
- All these bikes were powered by JAP V-twin engines of various capacities
- This machine, 'Wotan' was ridden in period by Ernie Woods
- This Mk3/No3 machine was built in the 1960s and as Francis Williams health deteriorated was modified for road use and road registered by Ernie Woods in 1968
- Purchased directly from Ernie Woods by our late vendor with original receipt included in August 1968
- Unused for decades with recent work was completed and included ignition and carburettor upgrades
- Some original parts inluded as pictured
- History file included with period photos of Wotan along with copy of original 1968 RF60 log book, various receipts, old MOT, vendors research notes and other related items
- Currently on the process of being re registered back onto its old number
