There are few cars that better represent Aston Martin’s return to prominence than the DB7. Introduced in 1994 and styled by Ian Callum, its beautifully resolved proportions, flowing lines and unmistakably British character made an immediate impression. Today, the DB7 is rightly regarded as one of the marque’s most elegant modern classics.
This 1998 DB7 is an especially appealing example. Originally registered in the Channel Islands, it benefited from main-dealer servicing from new before being repatriated to the UK and registered with the DVLA in July 2001. Aston Martin specialists subsequently maintained it, with stamped servicing recorded through to 2022. Having covered fewer than 1,000 miles during the past four years, it has recently received an oil, filters and spark plugs service, new front calipers and a fresh MOT, completed in July this year.
Finished in its original Chiltern Green, the colour suits the DB7’s graceful coachwork particularly well and is complemented by a beautifully contrasting two-tone cream and green leather interior.
The Aston has clearly enjoyed a cherished life, its low mileage reflected in the overall presentation. There are, however, a number of localised areas of lacquer peel, including the top of front wings, nose, fuel filler flap and bonnet. These would benefit from specialist attention, after which it would present exceptionally well and the investment would almost certainly be immediately realised in the value.
The original service book accompanies the DB7 which, along with the MOT records, provides reassuring documentation of its history. It also comes with its displayed six digit number plate.
Recently acquired by its current lady owner, who drove the DB7 to us without issue and noted it performed faultlessly throughout the journey. Sadly, despite loving it, young family commitments have made its grand touring character less practical than she had hoped.
An increasingly collectible modern classic, the DB7 i6 offers a wonderfully elegant way into Aston Martin ownership - and at this level, represents very compelling value.
