Beneath the characteristic, streamlined skin lies the mechanics of the BMW 328, whose chassis was fitted with British finish and sales by Frazer Nash, the brand's English importer at the time. The two-liter six-cylinder engine, with its three downdraft carburetors, was remarkably advanced for 1938 and provided the car with power that ensured excellent performance relative to its weight of less than 800 kilograms.
