We are always delighted to offer examples of the E36 M3 Coupe, arguably a car that defines an era of useable, practical, motorsport derived performance cars.

The earlier 3.0 engine versions are increasingly rare and are now giving an opportunity for enthusiasts or collectors to own one of these great cars that can be used daily and that’s exactly what this example first registered in 1995 has been doing.

This M3 Coupe in Cosmos Black with Black Leather was supplied new by Mill BMW in Sunderland. The first six services in the original handbook pack are all BMW main dealer stamps up to 2003 and 57,000 miles, as well as the BMW M Specific 1,200 mile running-in service.

The instrument cluster was changed in April 2005 by Williams BMW in Liverpool with the mileage showing 60,846 at that time, the new cluster was set to zero, and the odometer now shows 27,800 so we understand it to have covered c.88,000 miles. There is a letter from the BMW dealer that carried out the work confirming the instrument cluster change in the document file.

This M3 presents well and doesn’t pretend to be perfect. You may choose to rectify some of the lacquer peeling on the roof at the top of the windscreen, and a visit from a dent specialist will remove some small dents that haven’t broken the paintwork. The wheels and tyres are in great condition and those of you with an eye for detail will notice that the wheels fitted are from the later Evolution model but we think that they set the M3 off lovely. Both front leather seats are also in need of some attention to the seat bases, but we believe this would be a relatively straightforward repair in the right hands.

Don’t let any of this detract from what is a genuine, unmodified example of a great version of a truly wonderful car when BMW were a beacon for how a motorsport inspired, sports coupe should be.

Having been in regular use by the current owner, it is an M3 that can continue to be used on a daily basis immediately or be the prefect ‘road trip’ partner.
