Chassis No. B24S-1029
Engine No. B24-1174

By shortening its frame and making a series of modifications to accommodate the highly desirable Aurelia B20 GT Series IV engine beneath a considerably lower hood, Lancia created one of the most beautiful spiders of all time: the B24 Spider, the ultimate expression of the marque's refinement. Built in just 240 examples, with left- and right-hand drive combined, it featured a panoramic windshield designed with the American market in mind, earning it the enduring nickname “Spider America.”

Among the mere 181 examples of the B24S Spider produced, this car was completed on 31 May 1955 and finished in Grigio e Pelle Rossa, an elegant combination of Grey over a Red leather interior.

Little is known of the car's early years; it was likely delivered new in Italy, as its 1989 ACI Registro Pubblico Foglio Complementare records a lien of 180.000 lire in favor of Antonio Pasquariello of Rome, due on 15 January 1967.

The car's uninterrupted history begins in 1982, when it was acquired by Maurizio Ambrogetti, a former Italian rally driver and former president and shareholder of Pioneer Car Stereo Italia, and later of Alpine Italia Car Audio System, but above all a great Lancia collector. Prior to his acquisition, the car is recorded as having carried the Rome registration ROMA 644344, then RM53760H, before being registered MI1E6463 in Milan in his name, a registration it retained until at least 2005.

An extensive file relating to the 1980s remains with the car. Among its contents is a copy of the 1987 Lancia Register, providing the car's production information, as well as a 1983 restoration estimate and details of the extensive restoration campaign carried out on the car through 1988, including associated costs.

The car was acquired by its current owner in 2013, who subsequently registered it in Germany. As Ambrogetti had done before him, he undertook a major restoration campaign with B&F Touringgarage, German specialists in early Lancia models, cosmetic as well as mechanical, and detailed in the accompanying file, encompassing a comprehensive overhaul of the replacement engine including the carburetor, cylinder liners, pistons, valves, water pump, alternator, and camshaft. The suspension and brakes were fully overhauled, and the clutch, driveshaft, and transmission were rebuilt, with the fuel lines renewed. The cooling system, electrical system, ignition, starter motor, distributor, and tachometer drive shaft were each rebuilt or renewed, and the engine was bench-tested. In the years that followed, the car was maintained by these same specialists, as likewise detailed in the file.

The car is further documented by a 2014 KUS evaluation report, a 2018 TÜV evaluation report, and, more recently, an extremely thorough and detailed 2021 inspection report, available for review. It is further accompanied by the Uso e Manutenzione, as well as its Perspex side screens and jack.

The two major restoration campaigns undertaken in the 1980s and in 2014, together with the various evaluation reports and, not least, the significant lien recorded in 1966-some ten years after the car left the factory-bear witness to the historical and financial value the Aurelia B24S Spider has commanded across the decades, never falling from favor among collectors.
