  • Exceptional low mileage example
  • Standard dealer supplied specification
  • Low ownership
  • Comes from an avid collector

Here we have a very rare example indeed, a Nissan Sunny GSX Coupe automatic finished in metallic grey with the gloss black finish and grey velour trim. The GSX was registered on 1/8/1988 to its first owner, and it has only had six previous owners from new. It was supplied new by Fairway Nissan and still wears its original number plates and rear window sticker. In the file is a press release from Nissan that shows the launch details and tells us the specification when new, including the following as standard; automatic transmission with lock-up torque converter, variable ratio power steering, tilt / detachable tinted sunroof, electric front windows, electric mirrors, velour cloth upholstery, bronze tinted glass, lights on warning buzzer and panel light rheostat. It cost £10,195 (take a little while to digest that) and was a huge leap in specification compared to other manufactures offerings at the time. That’s how good they were when new and that’s why this is a classic.

Our vendor is only selling the Sunny, with a little regret, as he has just bought two classics in our Auctions, and he can’t keep them all, he is told. As he has had this one for a while, he is letting it go to enjoy his new ‘toys’, as we all do, I am sure. He has also kindly provided the following information:

“In 1987 Nissan sold over 36,000 Sunnys in the UK but only 4,194 were Coupe’s - with the premium GSX automatic representing a tiny fraction of that number. To find a B-12 generation coupe preserved in this condition is rare enough, to find one complete with the original factory press documentation, the original owner’s manual and backed by a sub-29,000 mileage and a recent £1,000 specialist mechanical refresh, this is an unmissable opportunity for any serious collector of modern classic Japanese cars. The work included a new timing belt, fresh fluids, full brake overhaul, tracking adjustments and four brand new tyres, completed less than 340 miles ago.”

The Nissan comes with a selection of older MOTs, some receipts and bills, the aforementioned press release from Nissan, its owner’s manual, a V5 and a clear HPi. You really need to see how good this Nissan is, chances are you will never find another one like it. As we know, Japanese cars are now becoming very sought after and collectable and make excellent and cool daily drivers they are that good, and probably better than most.
