The vendor has kindly provided the following information:

“Offered for sale is a particularly notable example of the exclusive Hesketh 24: a one-owner 2016 motorcycle, numbered 11 of the limited production run of just 11 machines.

Created as a tribute to the Hesketh Formula 1 team and James Hunt's 1976 World Championship victory, the Hesketh 24 combines distinctive British design with a muscular, air-cooled V-twin engine and an exceptional specification. Its rarity, dramatic styling and limited production make it an increasingly desirable modern British collector motorcycle.

This particular machine is distinguished not only by its low production number and single-owner history, but also by an unusually strong record of media and exhibition appearances.

Notable history and provenance

This Hesketh 24 motorbike was used for a special television feature on the Hesketh 24 for ‘The Motorcycle Show’. It was also the very motorcycle displayed at the 2016 NEC event, where it appeared alongside a Hesketh Formula 1 racing car in a dedicated Hesketh F1 feature. Images of the motorcycle displayed with the car can be found in online coverage of the event.

The motorcycle was subsequently featured at the Earls Court Motorcycle Show, further adding to its exhibition history.

This motorbike was used for the 2016 Motorcycle News feature on the Hesketh 24. The lot includes a confirmation letter from Hesketh Motorcycles relating to this appearance, together with a copy of the original Motorcycle News newspaper dated 6 January 2016, containing the full article.

Further supporting material includes:

  • A letter from Hesketh Motorcycles confirming the motorcycle's participation in the 2016
    NEC Hesketh F1 feature
  • A letter confirming its use for the 2016 Motorcycle News feature
  • A copy of the original Hesketh marketing brochure
  • The original Motorcycle News issue dated 6 January 2016, containing the relevant article This combination of factory documentation, contemporary press material and recognised public exhibition history gives the motorcycle a particularly compelling provenance.

Collector appeal

The Hesketh 24 was conceived as a limited-production British superbike with a strong connection to the Hesketh Formula 1 story. Each example is rare in its own right, but this motorcycle offers considerably more than production-number exclusivity.

As number 11 of only 11 believed to exist, it has remained with its original owner and has been used by recognised motorcycle media and Hesketh-related promotional events. Its appearance alongside a Hesketh Formula 1 car at the 2016 NEC, its Earls Court exhibition history and its use in the Motorcycle News feature are all documented by accompanying material.

For collectors, this is an opportunity to acquire a highly individual modern British motorcycle with both engineering significance and verifiable media provenance.
