One of the rarest and most desirable derivatives of the XJS, the JaguarSport XJR-S was developed by JaguarSport, the joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), and hand-finished by TWR engineers at Kidlington, many of whom had worked on the XJ220. Far more than a cosmetic exercise, the XJR-S received extensive mechanical development, including its enlarged 6.0 litre V12 producing 318bhp, Zytek engine management, modified GM400 automatic transmission and Salisbury limited-slip differential. TWR also developed the suspension with increased spring rates and specially tuned Bilstein dampers, while a true dual exhaust system, 16-inch Speedline wheels and subtle bodywork gave the XJR-S a suitably purposeful appearance. Inside, bespoke Connolly Autolux leather and a Momo steering wheel completed the specification. With production ending in 1993 after a little over 500 examples, including just 115 right hand drive cars, the XJR-S remains a particularly collectible Jaguar.
This 1993 example was acquired by its current owner in 2023, having covered just over 29,500 miles and has subsequently benefitted from considerable expenditure to bring it up to a higher standard. In March 2025, Jaguar Nottingham carried out almost £5,000 worth of work, including an oil service, new battery, rear brake calipers, pads and discs, four new tyres and further steering/suspension work. Further expenditure of £2,131 followed in September 2025 on front suspension bushes, anti-roll bar links, bushes, engine, gearbox mounts and paintwork. More recently, £675 was spent on the interior wood trim in July 2025, followed by further trim and paint work in June 2026, while a new headlining was fitted in July 2026 at a cost of £444.
With its very low mileage, limited production numbers, desirable 6.0 litre specification and extensive recent expenditure, this XJR-S represents a particularly interesting opportunity to acquire one of the ultimate factory-developed XJS variants. Consigned by Fraser Smith
