We are very pleased to bring to market this very rare BMW M3 Evolution Convertible with the all-important manual gearbox and finished in the best colour combination, in many people’s eyes, of Estoril blue with light silver grey leather. From a time when Estoril blue was an ‘M’ colour only and could not be had on any other car, unless you paid for it, making this instantly recognised as an M3 and not just any other BMW, which was the thing back in the day. This example has come to us by way of long term, possibly for a good few years, and very correct storage in the right conditions, hence the amazing condition. The paintwork is stunning, the wheels are in good condition - there may be a chip or two to sort out, a standard thing on wheels and easily done - and the interior is lovely albeit a little bit of wear on the driver’s seat, again a standard thing and easily put right. It is sat on the bigger wheel option and that fabulous colour combination is finished off with a recent new blue hood. You can understand where BMW coined the marketing tag “The ultimate driving machine”, here it might be…
It has air con, on-board computer, power hood, an individual steering wheel colour (this is easily changed or re-coloured if you wish) and all the other bits and pieces that these wonderful machines enjoy. A little fact you may not know is that this was the first car to have a 100 bhp per litre (321 bhp and 3200cc), which is a lot of performance to have had in the late 1990s and even by today’s standards. This was not for the faint hearted. The M3 is even sold with the private registration ‘S200CAH’, quite a nice plate to be fair.
The history is rather good; it has a collection of older MOTs and does need one now due to its storage; lots of invoices and receipts; tracker details; and what is very nice is the book pack complete with its folder and a service book, which tells us that it was sold by Godfrey Hall BMW in Shrewsbury on 1/1/1999. Another nice touch is that it has had only three owners in total, quite unusual for an M3, as usually they have had an army of owners at this age. The service book also tells us that it has had 19 services and 7 brake fluid services in its life. That is a great history, bearing in mind that it has been in storage for maybe six years. You get the impression this is a cared for example that has simply not been used. That being the case, it would be wise to have it checked over and MOT’d before taking to the road, always a good thing to do and hopefully something you would expect to do with any classic that has been in storage.
We highly recommended taking a closer look at this lovely M3 to see what it is all about and what you may have to do to it before taking to the road and enjoying it.
