The car was originally delivered in the United States and is equipped with the well-known air-cooled 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, coupled to a manual transmission.
Original documentation shows that the Porsche was delivered in California in May 1981. The original American warranty and maintenance booklet is still present with the car.
Over the years, the car has undergone extensive maintenance and technical work, with invoices and documentation supporting a significant part of its history.
TECHNICAL & MECHANICAL CONDITION
This 911 SC has received a great deal of technical attention over the years.
Extensive work was carried out on the engine in 2015 and 2016. The engine was largely disassembled after broken cylinder head studs were discovered. The intake system, exhaust, cylinder heads, and cylinders were removed, while the timing system was inspected and rebuilt. Parts of the chain guides and chain tensioners were replaced or modified, after which the cylinders and cylinder heads were reassembled and the timing was correctly adjusted.
During the same period, work was also carried out on the clutch and drivetrain. The clutch disc and release bearing were replaced, after which the clutch and gearbox were reassembled. In addition, numerous new parts were supplied for the engine, timing, exhaust, brakes, and chassis, among others.
In 2017, the rear ride height was corrected by adjusting the torsion bars. The steering shaft bearing was also replaced and the V-belt was adjusted.
In 2022, maintenance was performed again, including lubricating the front brake calipers, an oil and oil filter change, a brake fluid change, and repairs to various components of the heating and oil metering system. These works represented an investment of more than €1,000.
In early 2023, the charging system was checked following starting problems. The charging system itself was found to be functioning correctly, but the battery was defective. Subsequently, a new 74 Ah battery was installed.
The most significant recent technical investment took place in 2025. Extensive work was carried out, with invoices totaling approximately €27,000. The engine was completely disassembled for extensive maintenance and the valves were adjusted. Various ignition components were replaced, including the rotor, distributor cap, and spark plug wires. Several components of the K-Jetronic injection system were also overhauled.
The gearbox was also extensively overhauled. Among other things, gearbox bearings and synchronization parts were replaced, as well as a new clutch kit. The chassis received new shock absorbers front and rear, while the tie rods were converted to Turbo specification and the car was subsequently aligned. Additionally, various oil lines, fuel system components, and other mechanical parts were renewed.
Additional work consisted of replacing the lambda sensor and the damaged connector, replacing the entire ignition switch, installing a classic-looking Blaupunkt radio, and applying a full Gyeon/Cermax-type protective coating.
With extensive documented work on the engine, gearbox, chassis, brakes, and fuel system, this 911 SC boasts a particularly comprehensive technical history.
