The Maserati 4200 GT marked an exciting new chapter for the celebrated Italian manufacturer, combining elegant grand touring design with a magnificent Ferrari-derived V8 engine. Introduced in 2002 as the successor to the 3200 GT, the 4200 featured a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 producing approximately 390bhp, delivering exhilarating performance and a wonderfully distinctive soundtrack.

Although the majority of examples were specified with Maserati's Cambiocorsa automated transmission, this particular car benefits from the considerably less common six-speed manual gearbox. Offering a more traditional and involving driving experience, the manual 4200 GT has become an especially appealing choice among enthusiasts who appreciate the combination of a powerful naturally aspirated V8 and a conventional manual transmission.

Finished in the beautiful and unmistakably Italian Blu Nettuno, this particular car also has an interesting story, believed to have previously formed part of the collection belonging to Eddie Walsh, affectionately known as 'The Dino Man'. A well-known name among Italian car enthusiasts, Walsh's association with the car adds an intriguing element to its history.

The Maserati spent approximately ten years away from regular road use while in the collection, reportedly being stored indoors throughout this period. Although used sparingly, the car was maintained and started periodically rather than simply being abandoned to storage.

Accompanying the vehicle is a substantial early service history covering the its early life through to 2014, documenting its earlier life and maintenance. Its last MOT before the extended period of storage was recorded in 2015 at approximately 68,000 miles. With the odometer now displaying 73,500 miles, the car has covered approximately 5,500 miles over the last eleven years.

During 2026, the Maserati was recommissioned and returned to the road following its lengthy period of limited use. Once the necessary preparations had been completed, it was presented for an MOT in March 2026, passing without a single advisory.

Of particular significance is the substantial mechanical expenditure undertaken more recently. In September 2026, the car was entrusted to Autoshield Maserati, one of the UK's respected independent Maserati specialists, where a brand-new clutch was fitted using genuine Maserati components. Clutch replacement represents a significant maintenance expense on these cars, making this recent work an especially welcome addition to the vehicle's history. A replacement mass airflow sensor has also been fitted during 2026.

Cosmetically, the car presents well, with the paintwork retaining an attractive depth and lustre. There are a few minor scuffs and age-related imperfections around the bodywork, although these are relatively modest and do little to detract from its overall appearance. The interior is equally appealing, with its contrasting cream leather upholstery creating a wonderfully traditional Italian grand touring atmosphere. The sculpted seats, sweeping dashboard and distinctive Maserati instrumentation are complemented by the six-speed manual gear selector, providing a welcome reminder that this is a car designed to be enjoyed from behind the wheel.

Supplied with its original Maserati bookpack, two keys and accompanying service documentation, this example offers an attractive combination of specification, provenance and recent maintenance.
