This 1972 Chevrolet K10 combines the unmistakable styling of Chevrolet's second-generation pickup with modern LS power, updated comfort, and thoroughly restored four-wheel-drive underpinnings. Finished in a clean cream exterior over a coordinated cream and brown interior, this short-bed K10 presents as a carefully planned restomod built for both show-quality presentation and real-world drivability.
According to the accompanying restoration documentation, the truck received a comprehensive frame-off restoration by MS Restoration that was completed in August 2024. Its original short-bed frame was stripped, media blasted, and powder coated before being fitted with restored factory-specification springs, new adjustable shocks, and polyurethane bushings throughout. The rear differential was rebuilt with new bearings and internal components, while the original NP205 transfer case was also rebuilt.
Power comes from a rebuilt 5.7-liter aluminum-block LS1 V8 backed by a rebuilt TH350 three-speed automatic transmission with a new torque converter. The engine was fitted with a new oil pump and seals, along with a billet serpentine accessory-drive system. An aluminum radiator and dual electric cooling fans help manage operating temperatures, while a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers provides an appropriately muscular exhaust note.
Braking is handled by front power discs and rear drums, supported by a new brake booster and master cylinder. The power-steering system includes a rebuilt steering box and a chrome reservoir. Together with the updated suspension, these improvements give the truck more responsive road manners while retaining its traditional solid-axle four-wheel-drive character.
The cream exterior is complemented by black side moldings, chrome bumpers, Chevrolet and K10 badging, and a new cowl-induction hood. A new Chevrolet grille and mounting hardware were installed, along with new front, rear, and door glass. The Brothers Trucks one-piece window conversion eliminates the original vent windows for a cleaner profile. LED lighting is used throughout, including a rear cab light that also functions as a third brake light.
The new LMC bed, tailgate, and associated hardware are protected by a durable spray-in liner. The underside of the cab and bed, as well as the inner front and rear wheelhouses, also received protective liner material. The fuel tank has been relocated beneath the bed, with the filler discreetly positioned inside the driver-side stake pocket.
Inside, the cabin has been refinished in an attractive combination of cream, brown, and caramel tones. The custom bench seat is joined by matching door panels, carpeting, headliner, and a custom center console with integrated cupholders. A wood-rim steering wheel with Chevrolet horn button is mounted to a tilt column.
Dakota Digital direct-fit analog gauges provide a period-inspired appearance with modern digital mileage and clock displays. An OBD-II diagnostic port has also been incorporated into the build. Additional comfort and convenience features include a Vintage Air SureFit Series Gen V air-conditioning system, heated driver and passenger seating, a RetroSound Long Beach radio with Bluetooth connectivity, and Kicker 6.5-inch speakers mounted in the kick panels.
A custom aluminum switch panel controls the heated seats, electric-fan override, front driving lights, and additional circuits reserved for future accessories. The truck also features new wiring through a Painless Performance harness.
Completing the exterior presentation are 15x8-inch steel Rally wheels that were media blasted and powder coated gray, then finished with chrome beauty rings. They are wrapped in aggressive 33x12.50R15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, giving the K10 an appropriately rugged stance without overpowering its classic proportions.
A detailed binder containing restoration photographs, receipts, invoices, and supporting records accompanies the truck. With its documented frame-off restoration, rebuilt LS1 drivetrain, original NP205 transfer case, upgraded climate control, custom interior, and carefully selected modern improvements, this 1972 Chevrolet K10 offers a compelling balance of vintage Chevrolet character and contemporary usability.
