The Daimler Dart, subsequently renamed the SP250 following a naming dispute with Chrysler, was launched at the 1959 New York Motor Show. Its distinctive fibreglass body was paired with an Edward Turner-designed 2.5 litre V8 producing around 140bhp, delivering smooth and spirited performance. With independent front suspension and disc brakes all round, the Dart offered an entertaining alternative to more conventional British sportscars, finding particular favour in the North American market. The later B-specification chassis provided improved rigidity, while the model's distinctive styling and characterful V8 have ensured a lasting following among enthusiasts.

This 1960 example is recorded by the Daimler and Lanchester Owners' Club as a B-specification car. Believed to have been exported when new, possibly to New Zealand, it returned to the UK in 1997 before benefiting from an extensive restoration. The work included an engine rebuild, electronic ignition, a replacement radiator, Kenlowe cooling fan and the fitment of splined hubs and 72-spoke wire wheels. The car was also repainted and retrimmed in blue with tan leather upholstery, complemented by a black soft-top, matching tonneau cover and leather hood bag. Although the restoration was not fully documented, the history file retains invoices and handwritten notes relating to the work.

Purchased from Historics by the current owner in 2014, the Daimler has remained in his care and benefited from further maintenance. Notable work includes a substantial service and brake overhaul by Rawles Motorsport in 2017, encompassing new discs and pads, attention to the hubs and wheel bearings, handbrake shoes, steering and an axle seal. Subsequent invoices record routine servicing and checks, a new battery and starter motor solenoid. Presenting as an honest and usable example, this appealing British sportscar offers the opportunity to enjoy the distinctive character of Daimler's V8, whether on weekend drives, club outings or a relaxed trip to the pub.
