During 2016 and 2017, the car underwent an extensive, nut-and-bolt restoration by respected specialists Moto Technique Ltd. Invoices record £68,679 for the September 2016 works, followed by substantial 2017 bills of £21,068 and £12,056, alongside further payments totalling £40,000 plus VAT. The restoration encompassed a comprehensive engine rebuild, chassis repairs and refinishing, refurbished steering and suspension, new fuel and brake lines, rebuilt Weber carburettors and distributors, overhauled instruments and electrical systems, a bespoke stainless-steel exhaust and extensive aluminium bodywork corrections to the doors, wings, shut panels and window frames. A five-speed conversion was commissioned from Ferranti Engineering, with further gearbox work by Moto Technique. O'Rourke Coach trimmers subsequently completed the interior in Connolly leather, Italian wool carpeting and a grey headlining. Further invoices document continued specialist attention, including a 2019 service by Moto Technique, a 2022 overhaul by SBR Engineering with four new Michelin tyres, detailed refinishing and adjustment work by Storico Restorations in 2023 and a new clutch kit and release bearing fitted by SBR Engineering in June 2025. Total itemised sterling expenditure exceeds £173,900, alongside an exhaust system costing €2,250 and a Ferrari toolkit supplied from the USA for $3,724.
The accompanying FIVA Identity Card, valid until 2027, records the full restoration and colour change during 2016-2017. Historical correspondence from 2016 attributes the conversion to Italian coachbuilder Giovanni Giordanengo, reportedly using original SWB parts, although this account remains unverified. The engine block is stamped 3565 and is understood to be a replacement, fitted at an unknown date.
Presented in stunning condition, this is an exceptionally compelling Ferrari, combining extensive specialist restoration with the evocative appearance of the legendary SWB. It deserves to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Also included in the history file is a highly detailed photographic album of every stage of the restoration process. The car will be supplied on registration 143 UYN, with 12 SWB available by separate negotiation. Consigned by Fraser Smith
