This highly desirable, right hand drive 1960 Jaguar XK150S 3.8 litre ( engine we believe may not be the original ) Coupe represents the absolute pinnacle of the legendary XK series. Launched in the final year of production, the 3.8 litre 'S' specification was the ultimate high-performance variant, utilising triple SU carburettors to develop a formidable 265bhp, a monumental leap from the 190bhp of the original 3.4 litre models. Equipped with the exceptionally rare and sought-after four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, this motor car offers an unparalleled, engaging period driving experience.
Finished in an elegant shade of deep burgundy paintwork accented by classic chrome wire wheels, this particular example boasts a good and deeply sentimental provenance, having remained within the same family ownership for the past 28 years. Originally acquired by the father, stewardship of the Jaguar was passed to his son in 2021. With a total of only two previous keepers recorded and showing just 71,646 the vehicle is presented in what appears to be mostly highly original condition. This is also a rare example having been fitted with a four-speed gearbox and electronic overdrive.
The photographs on our website and in the catalogue, beautifully capture the remarkably honest, wonderfully preserved state of the interior. The tan leather seats exhibit an incredibly rich patina, showing natural age and creasing without excessive wear, seamlessly matching the matching tan door cards, carpets and matching dash top. This aged cabin features a classic wood-rimmed sports steering wheel and original instrumentation.
Accompanying the Jaguar is an extensive history file. It features an impressive collection of invoices, alongside a selection of previous MoT test certificates that help document its journey through the decades and the present owner has recently spent circa £10,000 for various remedial works. Notably, the file records a significant amount of specialised mechanical and preservation work undertaken in the early 2000s, the vast majority of which was entrusted to the renowned marque experts at Heritage Classics. Combining rare 'S' specification, continuous family provenance, a stunning colour combination and a beautifully patinated interior, this XK150S is one for the collector and is ready for its next custodian. Although the car runs and drives ( the clutch will need some attention), it will need re commissioning and we do advise that the car is transported from the Auction venue. Consigned by James Good
