The new online Classic Car Ratings (CCR) database is the first to offer collectors, insurers, and anyone who loves classic cars accurate insight into the current value of classic and collectable cars. The database unlocks the value history as well as the current value of registered classic and collectable cars. During the past eight years, a specialist team in Amsterdam has been working on the platform in secret. They developed a system that registers the values and all other data on unique vehicles that are auctioned and change owners anywhere in the world, 24/7. As a result, the Dutch CCR platform already covers around 85 per cent of the car auction market worldwide. And the goal is to increase this number shortly. Sjoerd Peereboom, businessman, car collector, and founder of the CCR database, was inspired by a similar platform that has been used in the art world to determine the current value of art objects for many years – realising that a similar global database showing the value history of classic cars and collectables had not yet been developed. At the moment, the CCR database includes details on over 600,000 sales. Moreover, the CCR database is not just available to buyers but also to insurers that need to assess the value of a vehicle or an entire portfolio. Broad target group The platform can be accessed via the website and by a broad target group. Insurers will be using the platform to assess the value of the portfolio of classic cars and collectables they insure. Consumers, on the other hand, can use the website to request a valuation report for their vehicle and for making and uploading details of vehicles and photos. The CCR database includes characteristic features of every classic or collectable car, such as the brand, model, year of construction, coachbuilder, originality, damages, history, mileage, etc. The cars that need to be appraised are matched with the information on similar cars already in the database and shared with the specialist team. Based on the outcome, the applicant receives a valuation report for the respective vehicle, valued based on up-to-date sales figures of similar cars.Today, the CCR platform already handled 15,000 valuations in the Benelux, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Ireland. The information added to the database is collected through leading online and offline auction houses operating worldwide.
