Based on the Aventador's carbon fiber architecture, the LPI 800-4 employed a state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain pairing the Aventador’s glorious naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 769 horsepower with a 34-horsepower 48-volt electric motor. The innovative system, similar to that used in the Sián hypercar, utilized a supercapacitor rather than a conventional lithium-ion battery, resulting in a total output of 803 horsepower while offering optimal efficiency and weight savings.

This exceptional powerplant delivered hypercar levels of performance—zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h (220.58 mph)—accompanied by an intense, metallic-tinged V12 soundtrack. The exterior design, led by Mitja Borkert, captured the essence of its predecessor through thoughtfully incorporated heritage elements. The clean, wedge-shaped carbon fiber body featured distinctive touches like pentagonal wheel arches housing staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, prominent NACA air intakes, and a glazed roof panel that referenced the periscope system of early Countach models. The launch color, Bianco Siderale, featured a distinctive blue pearlescent finish, paying homage to Ferruccio Lamborghini's personal Countach LP 400 S.

The interior married classic Countach design motifs, like geometric stitching and square-section seat inserts, with modern Lamborghini luxury appointments, including an 8.4-inch touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay. In contrast to the cramped cabin of the original Countach, the LPI 800-4 incorporated a photochromic glass roof panel that could be lightened at the touch of a button for a spacious, airy feel.

Ferrari 275 GTS: One of Just 200

Ferrari announced the launch of the 275 series in October 1964 at the Salon de L’Automobile in Paris. The series consisted of a hard-top Berlinetta, dubbed the “GTB”, and a cabriolet spider, from which the GTS takes its name. Both bodies were designed by Pininfarina. While the chassis and engines for the two models were essentially identical, the similarities ended there. The GTB body was fabricated by Maranello’s preferred competition coachbuilder Scaglietti, while the more luxuriously appointed GTS was constructed at Pininfarina’s Grugliasco factory.

The Ferrari 275 GTS was completely different in appearance and proportions to its closed-roof sibling, while the cabriolet car was constructed of steel with an aluminium bonnet, boot lid, and doors. Uncovered headlamps, triple-louvered wings, a tapered rear end, and standard Borrani wire wheels were the spider’s key visual identifiers, and those features were eventually carried over to the 330 and 365 GTS variants that followed. Just 200 examples of the 275 GTS were built over an 18-month production period, making the model far rarer than the 275 GTB, of which over twice the amount were made. Prized by Ferrari enthusiasts today as the luxurious grand touring expression of the celebrated 3.3-litre Colombo platform, the 275 GTS has evolved into one of the era’s most collectable open-top Ferraris.

The stunning 1965 Ferrari 275 GTS is now available on our website, presented by our long-standing client and trusted partner, Joe Macari. This exceptional example offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s most elegant open-top grand tourers.

This very special example is the 61st of 200 cars built and the 7th of just 14 produced in right-hand drive for the UK market. Originally finished in Rosso Cina with beige Connolly hide, it was delivered new on 29th July 1965 to Colonel Ronnie Hoare’s Maranello Concessionaires, before being sold shortly afterwards, on 13th August, to its first owner, Charles Lucas.

In 2012, the Ferrari found its way into the hands of its current custodian in the UK. Over the past thirteen years, it has been carefully preserved and cherished, covering minimal mileage, and remains today in superb condition.

With its rarity, originality, long-term enthusiast ownership and superbly documented provenance, this Ferrari 275 GTS offers all the qualities sought after by the most discerning collectors. It stands today as a magnificent example of Maranello’s open grand tourer, fully deserving of its place among the finest sports cars of the 1960s.
