The Audi Sport Quattro SWB stands as one of the most influential high-performance cars of the 1980s, created as a homologation special for Group B rallying. Its roots trace back to the original Audi Quattro of 1980, which transformed road cars with permanent four-wheel drive and a turbocharged five-cylinder engine. That pioneering model achieved major rally success, securing multiple manufacturers’ and drivers’ titles and establishing Audi as a force in world motorsport.
This exceptional car is currently available through our long-term partner, Joe Macari.

To push performance further, Audi developed the short-wheelbase Sport Quattro, designed for maximum agility and competition edge. It featured a 2.1-litre turbocharged 20-valve engine producing around 306 bhp, extensive weight-saving with Kevlar body panels, and became the first Quattro fitted with ABS brakes. With 0–60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed near 160 mph, it rivalled contemporary supercars and earned its fearsome reputation.
Production was extremely limited, with just 214 examples built in total. Of these, 164 were sold to customers, 20 were retained for Audi Motorsport, and the remainder were used for experimental and factory purposes, making the Sport Quattro SWB one of the rarest and most desirable performance icons of its era.

This example was delivered new in Switzerland in January 1985, finished in Alpine White over a grey leather and Alcantara interior. Imported to the UK in the late 1990s, it was later acquired by a former Audi works rally co-driver, who maintained it carefully and exercised it regularly, adding to its respected provenance.
Renowned within Audi UK and Audi Quattro Owners Club circles, the car has featured in numerous specialist publications and taken part in landmark events. Highlights include the ‘Quattro 30’ tour, where it was praised by the head of Audi Tradition, and winning Best in Show at the Bradford Classic, alongside appearances at many tours and gatherings.

Purchased in 2011 by Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, the car has remained in outstanding condition during his fourteen-year ownership. It retains its original Kevlar panels, a largely untouched interior with Recaro seats and period options, and benefits from meticulous servicing by leading specialists. Accompanied by full manuals, stamped service book, keys, and a comprehensive history file, it represents a superbly preserved example of this legendary Audi.
